Editorial policy
Modern News Compass aims to explain news and public claims accurately, clearly and with proportionate confidence. Readers should be able to tell what is asserted, what supports it and where uncertainty remains.
Accuracy and clarity
We check factual statements against suitable, identifiable sources and take care not to present an example as proof of a wider pattern. We distinguish direct evidence, attributed claims and our own explanation. When a point is uncertain or limited, we say so rather than implying more certainty than the material allows.
Independence
Editorial decisions about topics, wording and conclusions remain separate from commercial relationships. A partner cannot buy an editorial conclusion, remove relevant context or determine coverage. We do not present an opinion or promotional claim as independently established fact.
Corrections
If a reader spots a possible error, they can contact us with the relevant passage and supporting detail. We review correction requests, amend material when warranted and make meaningful corrections clear to readers. We distinguish corrections of fact from changes made for clarity or style.
Partner material and illustrations
Paid placements and partner contributions are labelled clearly so readers can distinguish them from editorial work. We also identify illustrations generated with AI where they appear; such images are illustrative, not documentary evidence.
